This was a nice deck to start with, located out the main living area and overlooking a large walkout yard, there was already some grandeur there. After 30 some years though, the deck was showing some age. The grand split stairway, while fun and whimsical, took up a wide footprint without offering a lot of space to actually enjoy. Time for a fresh start.
Our sales team met with the homeowners to come up with a new design layout that gave them more space to utilize and enjoy while updating the look. The new deck footprint allowed for an expanded dining area in addition to the sitting area. A single stairway down to the walkout replaced the double stairway.
Maintenance Free Azek decking was chosen in English Walnut. Accenting white was to be used for post wraps, fascia and stairs. The combination of the white with the English Walnut is a classic pairing that keeps the look bright and clean.
White aluminum railings were chosen for the deck rails and black spindles were used as the pickets. The aluminum railings are another low maintenance choice and complimented the white deck accents. The black spindles on the railing help open your eye out beyond the railings to the back yard.
Custom post wraps were created to really pull together the size and style of the home and deck. A slim post wrap would not have given justice to a deck of this size and the classic pillar style really fits in well with this home.
The end product is a deck that really is a show piece for this home. It's spacious, beautiful, and classic. I can only imagine all the wonderful nights sitting outside, steaks on the grill, sipping wine, and watching the stars come out.
